4th grade

kathy mclean

Hi. My name is Kathy McLean. I am the 4th Grade teacher for Math and Science at South Pemiscot Elementary. I obtained my Associate Degree from Dyersburg State, my Elementary Education (K-8) degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin, and my Masters Degree from Union University.

This is my first year of teaching at South Pemiscot. After teaching for 31 years, I retired from teaching in TN. I have taught Kindergarten through 5th grades. I always taught self contained (all subjects). I taught Kindergarten for 2 years, 1st grade for 1 year, 2nd grade for 6 years, â…” Split class for 2 years, 4th grade for 10 years, and 5th grade for 5 years. Additionally, I taught NONGRADED (K-2) for 5 years. In the Nongraded program, I taught 6 kindergarteners, 6 first graders, and 6 second graders. I kept them for 3 years. After the third year, the 2nd graders moved on to 3rd grade and I would receive 6 more kindergarteners. I enjoyed and learned a tremendous amount during my 31 years of teaching at Trimble Elementary. I am now proud to be a Bulldog!

My husband of 38 years is Lyn McLean. He grew up on a Dairy Farm in Newbern, TN. I was originally from Dyersburg, TN. My husband is a farmer, cattleman, and a USDA inspector. We live on a farm in Newbern, TN. We have two children, Heather and Heath, and one granddaughter, Emma. Heather is 34 years old and lives in Memphis TN with her husband. They have an amazing daughter, Emma, who is currently 20 months old. Heather is a Regional Manager for Syngenta Seed and Chemical Company and her husband is an accountant. My son, Heath, is a Clinical Pharmacist at the VA in Lexington, Kentucky. He has his Dr. degree in Clinical Pharmacy. He is 29 years old and is not married yet.

I enjoy agriculture and photography. Living on a farm, I am passionate about agriculture. Both my children were FFA State Officers in college. I truly enjoy teaching and am looking forward to many more years of teaching at South Pemiscot. Go Bulldogs!!

Sincerely,

Kathy McLean
