Principal's Letter

Dear South Pemiscot Parents and Community,

As principal of South Pemiscot High School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year. Exactly how it is going to look and progress through the year, because of COVID, is anyone's guess, but I can assure you whatever approach we take will be in the best interest of your student's safety and academic growth. If you can, please look over our district's re-entry/reopening plan found on the district homepage to see what precautions and steps we are taking currently and ones we are ready to take if necessary. At the moment, we plan on beginning in stage 1, which means onsite instruction. With current guidelines and information provided by the CDC, which shows that school aged children are at very low risk and do not easily transmit the virus, starting with onsite instruction with safety modifications is the most prudent and best approach. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me and I can give more details. At the moment, however, knowing that we are about to have students walking in our hallways again is exciting. At South Pemiscot, it is our goal to fill our students with an energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to help every child feel welcome, connected, and part of our South Pemiscot family. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic abilities, realize their potential, and be college or career ready by the time they graduate. At South Pemiscot High School, we have great teachers who spend many hours planning and creating rigorous lessons to engage and maximize student learning. Our teachers utilize best practices and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvement. We believe that all students should graduate from high school prepared for the demands of postsecondary education, meaningful careers and effective citizenship.

By now you have noticed that we have a new website loaded with tons of information. We hope that you find it helpful and informative. Every attempt will be made to keep items up to date and relevant. Our goal is for our website to serve as an information hub for everything going on at South Pemiscot. As you can see, the updated site has a wealth of information which includes, calendars, sports schedules, lunch menus, contact information, parent forms, SIS parent portal, news and announcements, South Pemiscot Facebook timeline, and etc. As stated earlier, it has a great deal of helpful info. If you have suggestions for further improvement please let us know.

Before I go, I would like to say that it is my honor to serve as the principal of South Pemiscot High School. As an alumni of this school, I take great pride in our tradition of excellence and it is my hope that we continue to grow and improve as we head into the future. It is truly a privilege to be part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth.

Once again, welcome back! Let's make this a great year.
